Long has David Archuleta been hailed as a source of inspiration to the young .. the not-so-young .. the unconfident .. the downtrodden ..
Maya Angelou, an American author and poet, had this to say about inspiration:
Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.
And David has been that rainbow to so many thousands from such a young age that the thought boggles the mind. A Top 10 AI contestant in their Farewell Season has this to say:
Be so good that people will take your performances
as a yardstick to raise their game.
David has become, not just a source of inspiration, but also a yardstick of measuring quality. Judging from his renditions of songs and choice of music since returning from Chile, I believe David will now never settle for mediocrity, and I perceive definitely not in his compositions of songs. Possessing quality is an ongoing process of attaining improvement. I believe he has been re-defining to reach even higher excellence and to elevate his level of perfection.
We don’t know when this happened, but this vid was just released. Talk about re-defining. 🙂
Perhaps that is the reason he is taking longer than anticipated to release his new music? – ever wanting to live up to the level of quality one imposes on oneself and which is expected of one, can be an upward struggle.
And he will be more acutely judged on his new music than before.
I found some famous quotes which could easily be used as descriptives of David .. and definitely be used as the world’s directives:
In a gentle way, you can shake the world – Mahatma Gandhi
Strive not to be a success but rather to be of value – Albert Einstein
It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop – Confucius
Everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear – George Addair
There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing – Aristotle
It’s never too late to be what you might have been – George Eliot
Be a yardstick of quality – Steve Jobs
Giving entertainment and joy is not just about performing like a huge rockstar before a crowd of screaming fans with glorified celebrity and self-promotion. The element of “quality” also embraces a level of “classiness” when you give it quietly and sincerely straight from the heart without any glamour fanfare. Like undemandingly given to some needy(?) lonesome(?) gentlemen in a barber shop?? 😉
Looks like the notorious Archu-trance has caught up with these 3 gentlemen? 😉
(Oh, by the way, David, is all that hair on the floor, yours? You have chopped off a little too much , doncha think?? 😡 )
