The imminence of a big transition invariably carries with it a load of mixed feelings within us – the reluctance of departing from something that has become comfortable or a habit … harbouring apprehension before taking the 1st step into a future which carries uncertainties … or is it a sigh of relief doing away at long last with something that has become tiresome or even a disenchantment?
I can’t help but wonder what kind of mixed emotions David may be going through now that his Mission is approaching its end – an end of presumably a comparatively solemn “monastic” life of a priest, and returning to the glitz and show-business buzz of a rockstar life, or at least, to a life of devotion to aestheticism and the pursuit of it.
Such wide gaps between the lifestyles! Surely a successful transition will need alot of shedding and re-adjusting, and perhaps even accompanied by tears of joy or sadness. We, as fans, may never know the truth about David’s mixed feelings unless he chooses to reveal them one day.
But if we would just stretch our sense of empathy a little for David, we should be able to imagine the extent of his emotional uncertainties right now – running the gamut of a whole range of lows and highs puntuated with degrees of optimisms as well as pessimisms … of decisive moves yet blurred indecisions … of joy yet feelings indeterminate.
As a fervent fan of David’s of the “mummy” category 😉 my heart goes out to him for the nature of the transition he has to make soon. But my status as a fan denies me, and correctly so, to excessively pry and probe into his private inner self. We can only speculate. And speculate we will! Whoopie! 😀
However, it is my hope that David reveals it all to us one day through his music and songs when he is ready.
We are getting very good and experienced at speculating, so here we go:
He is content and feeling chilled for having almost fulfilled his dream of doing a Mission?
Or he is still reading his religious texts to influence his future music?
Or perhaps he is relieved that he has nearly completed what he set out to do and he can now move on to music closer to his heart?
Is he uncontrollably sad that he will be leaving the many friends and converts he has made?
Or perhaps the “real world” seems too scarry now for him to re-enter?
If the past is anything to go by, he may want to just “put 1 leg front of the other” and move ahead with positivity?
Maybe he is bewildered about his new music direction since he can sing everything? (There is no need for a direction, David! Just S I N G ! ! 🙂 )
Surely he is super-stoked that he will be back to his natural element?
You never know, perhaps he is secretly enjoying the lyrics he has secretly written?
Or perhaps he is just drooling over the prospect of sinking his teeth into some delish international grub!!
WHATEVER UNCERTAINTIES YOU MAY BE FEELING,
JUST COME HOME SOON, DAVID!
ALL WILL BE WELL
GREAT FOOD AND GREAT PROSPECTS AWAIT YOU ! ! 🙂
