FOD asks this question:
“Love the look or prefer David clean shaven?”
Not easy to decide, right??!! He looks good in both pics. But since most of us took to liking him when his face was as smooth as a baby’s bottom, I guess it takes a little time for us to cross the bridge and feel differently. Perhaps it’s not even easy at times to think of him as an adult. Because our enamour of him right at the beginning was the image of this very cute, very adorable, very darling of a young boy tugging at our heartstrings.
But he is now grown up!
As usual, I am inclined to dig deeper. If my memory serves me right, David never liked his voice or his looks that much. I believe he prefers to be edgier. To be more forefront of a trend. Rather than a cute and sweet kid. When it is his choice to pick a pic of himself for whatever publicity, he would go for the one where he is unsmiling .. where he is meditative .. where he just looks honest.
NOW, he is at that good place where he can afford to be selective and be his genuine self. Yeah, I believe he prefers to be this rugged guy – hairy and a little grungy (JUST a little ..) to inspire his need to create his own musical barriers. Or NO-barriers.
To be honest, I like him both ways. When he was clean and shaved, I did hope that he would one day be marginally more rumpled and let-loose. Now that he is moving in that direction, I know he is much less uninhabited. Perhaps he is preparing to fly. Even a little. I am elated.
At the end of the day, it is his voice and his connectivity to music that matter most to me. But, to David himself, his image and looks should be inspired and guided by the development of his artistry.
