David mentioned Matt Duke in his essay blog on June 16, 2009.
It may seem that I am pushing for a David+Guitar scenario, talking about Matt Duke now, so soon after that long-winded speech by Gita the Guitar. But I am not.
I’m crazy about David’s Crazy on the piano. So, may it be Guitar or Piano or on a Turtle Shell, I am expressing what others here have been craving for years – that David goes Acoustic, with no trace of electronic manipulation and interference to his golden voice. His voice alone is enough to carry out a song beautifully and to sustain our passion for him, and more.
Matt Duke is an American musician – singer and song-writer and tours primarily as a solo act with just an acoustic guitar for accompaniment. He says his musical styling has been influenced by the ’90’s Grunge and Rock.
As a song-writer, his lyrical influence came from his religious background and literary impressions from novels. His “Rabbit” track from his album Kingdom Underground, is based on the John Updike Rabbit Series.
Would you prefer to see David pursuing a path of acoustic music – performing in smaller venues – with just a guitar/guitarist? Or perhaps with just his piano?
Or would you rather him continuing to do what he has been doing?
