  1. So I assume you’ve had a taste of this Ostrich Divine Dumpling? 😛 Haha, for a second there you really had me convinced such a dumpling really existed! Darn, I was looking forward to trying it… All this talk about comfort food reminded me of this:

Sighh, now it’s time for my dinner! 😀

  2. Lol! Tracy!

You’re a sucker for food, just like me haha! Go eat something for comfort! 😀
    A crocodile sandwich perhaps? 😀

  3. Oh how I miss the authentic Malaysian cuisine… And all of you guys!! How’s everybody doing? 🙂 I’m still an AAMer right? Please don’t tell me I’ve been scratched off the member list… 😛

  4. Irda! Long time no see!
Of course you are still one of us. No way will we “scratch you off our list”! 🙂
Where are you now? Have you gone to the US for your studies?

When we have grown up eating Malaysian food, I guess we’ll never get over not eating it.
Hang on to your Ostrich Divine Dumplings and be comforted. 😉
Do come in as often as you can – we do miss you! 🙂

Did you manage to get your BEGIN. album wherever you may be?

  5. Auntie Trace!! I’m back in the US now 🙂 It’s been over a month.. But of course, no David anywhere in sight.. 😛 I live here now, go to college here. I’m doing Liberal Arts and Sciences. Going for a Psychology major. Music is a maybe too 😀 I miss so many things.. And of course, I miss AAM gatherings a whole lot…. xx

  6. BTW, I’ve been looking for BEGIN since forever around here but I still haven’t had the chance to own one. Youtube’s my best friend. Helped me get in on it. My American friends said we have to order it on the retail outlets web

  7. LOL Trace, you have an appetite of a 21 year old man! 🙂 BTW all that eating can be overwhelming at times. Do you like another Hakka dish called Lui Cha? At least that’s how I pronounced it. You might want to take that sometime for detoxification purposes haha

I’ve never tried Hakka Yam Dumpling. Sounds yummy though cos I like yam. Come to think of it I dont think I have a particular comfort food cos I gotta watch my waistline 😀 😀

Its quite impossible not to talk about David and food especially over here. Do you remember this one? I had a good laugh watching it.

Thanks Tracy for that Vangie video. Nice to see David getting excited over all the various rice dishes 🙂

  8. BAHAHAHAHHA Auntie Shirley!! Yep, it’s great to be back 🙂 And I have to admit that I’ve been craaaaaaving NEE MAMAK since I got here! 😀 Me want Nee Mamak! Or.. Ni mama?? This is mama LOL

  9. Irda

Hey go check out for a Malaysian restaurant if you are living in a big city, or near one. Make sure you don’t say Nee Mamak or Ni Mama to the waiter Lol!

So you’ll be majoring in Psychology? Your services will certainly be appreciated by psycho archies like us in the future! 😀

Try Deseret. They should have BEGIN.

Listen to this song Irda, and be comforted, as it has done for me, if the Nee Mamak doesn’t work. 🙂 I’m sure you have heard it on YTube, but nevermind, this is dedicated specially to an angel like you at a time when you are probably missing certain things at home. 🙂

  10. Shirley

Yes! I love food! My whole clan are foodies! 😀
Oh yes, I love Lui Cha, although it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Love all those mixed-up vegetables swimming in the tea-stock with rice and sesame seeds and nuts – yummy! You are right – good detox food 😀
I love everything, that’s the problem. If you can name something I don’t like, I’ll give you a prize Lol!

I’ve had snake soup before. But then I was a kid at the time and didn’t know what it was.

I saw some vids on Ytube on eating LIVE larvae straight from a tree bark, but decided not to post them….yiiiiiiaaaakkk!! Can’t be much of a comfort eating those!!
If you are curious, go check out on YouTube yourself.
Eating live larvae off a tree, I believe is done in the Amazon and it’s considered a delicacy.
One man’s poison is another man’s meat, I guess.

Thanks for the vid links you sent. 🙂

  11. I love yummy Northern Indian food – anything masala tastes good even to the drink. 🙂

I do take Thai Food but never Phai Thai until David mentioned it. My first taste was in Bangkok and was surprised that it looks like our very own Char-Kway-Tiow but sweet tasting. Anyway, Thai food in Bangkok is always served either with sugar or fish sauce.

  12. Me too, Akang, I love Indian food, northern or southern.

    Here’s a funny vid for you. 🙂

  13. Shirley

A vid for the detoxicating Lui Cha for you. It should maintain your waistline at 19″! 😀

  14. I love me some home-cooked nyonya food. 🙂 But honestly I love all sorts of food. What Malaysian doesn’t love to eat?! btw you can’t talk about food without being reminded of D. From nee mamak to mooncakes T.T I’m missing him really baaddddd.

  15. Oh dear liying!

I was hoping to divert you guys from missing him after the beauty of BEGIN. by talking about a completely different subject. 😦

Nevermind, watch this vid for Starters and listen to his album for the Mains, then go into tumblr for dessert. 🙂

  16. Lol Thanks for trying to cheer me up Auntie Trace. 🙂 I just ate, now I’m hungry again. Typical Malaysian lol. My family’s actually from Penang so we eat Penang nyonya food which is kinda different from Malacca.

Now about chocolates… I love Tim Tams. They’re really good when you’re feeling down 🙂 Reeses are good too but I don’t have them often. Oh wait… Reeses are David’s favourite T.T

  17. liying

Haha listening to you talk about chocolate reminds me of Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

Now you can make your own chocolate and send some over to Chile. David will surely remember you after that – the Malaysian girl who makes her own chocolate! 😀

  18. Haha thanks Auntie Trace! I really appreciate it 🙂 And funny you said that.. I’m actually a waitress at a MALAYSIAN RESTAURANT! 😀 This is crazy.. And the Nee Mamak here is goooooodddd 😉 But I do miss the original Nee Mamak down there

  19. Irda

You are working in a Malaysian Restaurant and you are still missing Malaysian food?!
You need a spanking! Lolll! 😀
But I do understand that Malaysian food cooked overseas is not as tasty. Perhaps it’s difficult to get the authentic spices, fresh santan, fresh pandan leaves etc.

I remember someone I know dumped a whole bowl of curry on her husband’s head when he remarked that the curry she cooked in London, was not as tasty and authentic.
    OMG!! Temper! Temper!
    It’s a true story – I didn’t make it up.

Liying mentioned in the last thread that she saw at tumblr, pics of David looking rather pale and sunken-eyed. As an Archu-mama, I really hope he is eating well…. sigh…! 😦

  20. Hey Irda 🙂 which part of the States are you in? There was this show on tv the other day featuring this restaurant in LA serving kaya toast. But they called it Singaporean lol

Auntie Trace, sending chocs to D in Chile…hmm… I might eat them all before I manage to send any. Poor David. 🙂

  21. LOL Trace, that rassam video is hilarious! Wonder what that Aunty will say about Lui Cha 🙂
That curry dumping on hubby story sure sounded true. Could it be based on your own true story? 😀 😀

Oh boy! All those food videos you posted sure makes me want to go on a binge…some chocolates perhaps or maybe to a great Malaysian buffet haha

Dont fret Trace, I am sure David is well taken care off during his mission. Maybe the pic Liying saw was taken after a hard day’s work 🙂

  22. Hey Irda,

I remembered a long while back, David tweeted about finding a Malaysian restaurant. I think he could be in LA at the time. Wont it be great if its the one you’re working in? He could have gotten an avalanche of reply tweets from Msian Archies after that too 😀

Ahhh, those were the days when we get random food tweets from him.

  23. Haha Auntie Trace! Tak sama lah!! 😀 It’s all Americanized.. But still good. So I dont miss it that much, but I do.. 🙂 Hah, I never make sense.. And I’m in Connecticut. North Eastern girl. California is half a continent away! 😀 About the Singaporean/Malaysian restaurant, nope that’s not the Restaurant I’m working at.. That’d be awesome though 🙂

  24. This is terribly off-topic. But the other day I had a dream that I was running cross country with David. He won at the end because he shoved me. lol I’m being really random aren’t I
