This past week has seen 2 momentous events – one for rejoicing and another the passing of a maverick and artful marketeer.
Oct 4th saw the 1st year anniversary of TOSOD, David’s sophomore pop album. Filled with infectious and occasionally introspective tunes the album pays homage to the good and not so good moments. It’s a more mature body of work and in David’s words, “more me.” Of course die hard David fans lapped it all up and bought it’s many incarnations from box sets to the normal brick and mortar CD. Although a full blown US/World tour to support the release – as is most often done by artists – did not materialise (for reasons we are familiar with by now), David did come to Asia to gve us a live serving of the songs for which we are still savouring and talking about.
Oct 6th was literally a grey and cloudy day (In Malaysia the sky was rather overcast throughout the day). Steve Jobs, founder and innovator supremo of Apple Inc., finally and sadly succumbed to cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of superlatives and life changing innovation and creativity in the arena of pop culture – iPhone, iTunes, iPod, iPad, Macintosh and even PIXAR animation studios. Can one man be so synonymous with a company that it was hard to separate the two? The creative spirit and entrepreneurship of Steve Jobs was so much a part of Apple that the question now in everyone’s mind is how and what will Apple be without it’s amazing guru?
And how was your week? 🙂
