SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Blaze are proud to announce that former season seven “American Idol” contestant, David Archuleta, a Murray, Utah native, will provide the half-time entertainment for the Blaze’s season-opener versus the Spokane Shock on Friday, April 9th at 7pm at the E Center.
Archuleta, who emerged onto the music scene through the popular show “American Idol”, will sing two songs during the half-time of the season-opener.
“Having David perform at our season-opener will provide a great night of entertainment for fans of all ages,” said Blaze owner Dave Affleck. “There will be something appealing and exciting for everyone in the family.”
Archuleta was named one of Forbes’ Breakout Stars of 2008. His first album was released in November of 2008, peaking at #2 on the Billboard charts, as did his first single, “Crush,” which has sold 1.5 million digital copies in the United States.
In addition to Archuleta performing at half-time, Justin Williams, a recent season nine contestant on “American Idol”, will be singing the National Anthem. Williams was diagnosed with cancer and underwent multiple surgeries and chemotherapy prior to appearing on the show. He is also a Utah native living in Sandy.

David and Aaron…?
Uh Oh.i don’t know guys. i shall just *zip* my lips *for now* so you guys go ahead and discuss this matter that stirred up archuland today hahaha. but hey!Free publicity at least? 😛
Weekly Idol Buzz!
haha.of course all abuzz about..the Archuaaron comparison.
Word of warning to Seacrest, however — you might want to quit with the David Archuleta comparisons. I know I was on Team Cook in season 7, but if we’re comparing vocal firepower here, Archie owns Aaron like Oprah Winfrey owns, well, everything.
Also, Ryan calls Aaron “David Archuleta” while giving out his Idol digits, but it’s an unfair comparison: Archie always had extremely polished vocals (don’t tell us you don’t still get the shakes when you hear his gorgeous take on “Imagine”)
Ryan Seacrest called Aaron “David Archuleta.” The name is Countryleta, Seacrest, and you’re not allowed to call him that until he stops singing like a wheezing goat! Don’t you dare soil the name of ArchuAwesome!
BTS of the M&M Interview
remember the veryyy lucky yellow m&m who got to interview D? Yeap.
The Perfect Duet: Archuleta & M&Ms
It turns out women aren’t the only ones that love milk chocolate and musicians: so do production companies — at least us.
That’s why we were so excited when Ron Hill Imagery called us up to help Laika, a cutting-edge animation company and producers of the 2009 Oscar-nominated film Coraline, interview American Idol favorite David Archuleta’s holiday release album. The project required some special finesse – incorporating animated yellow M&M into the scene alongside Archuleta, a-la Roger Rabbit style. Overseeing the shoot as field producer was Damian. Travis was on set as the camera operator.
