You know that you are true blue fan of an artist when you find yourself automatically correcting (in your mind) the wrong lyrics sung by someone on Youtube who’s covering that artist’s debut single. You know that you will be following this artist till the very end when you find yourself, for the first ever time, befriending other fans through the internet and not to mention getting along pretty darn well.
I’ve been a fan of David Archuleta for the past 7 months and I dare say I will be a hard core one for the rest of my life. Many people around me regard my obsession with him as merely a stage teenagers go through and that I adore this artist for his boyish looks. I don’t blame them because my blog posts so far have only gushed about his looks thus causing me to appear as deep as Paris Hilton.
Why David Archuleta?
I’m sure many fans of him have been asked this question only to find themselves speechless. Where do we start? A common answer from Justine and Rachel was “We get him.” When you hear David Archuleta sing, you will feel a connection so strong. A voice so full of emotion so real and raw. You get him and you know that you will be a fan for the rest of your life.
If you ask me, I will say that I have huge respect for David Archuleta and admire him in every single way. One thing that amazes me about him is how real he is. He is living proof of the “Stay true to yourself.” cliché. He defies the common statement “Good guys finish last.” He is a 17-year-old with so much within him that words alone are not enough to express just who he is. Which leads to the passion of his life – music. He is a budding artist who wishes to move the world to be a better place through music. His selflessness never fails to stun me. His love for music has no boundaries. I’m pretty curious about where does he get his source of music from. The diversity of the music he listens to is proof that this indeed is the love of his life.
I appreciate every single blog post, video blog and photo that he has posted. The randomness of his posts really make me smile. I find it awesomely sweet of him to take time and effort to share random bits of his life which he finds amusing. The little things that he does such as sharing songs that he thinks are worth listening and showing us glowing tunnels in airports which he deems cool mean the world to us fans. It shows how much he truly cares for us. =) If he can show that much care and concern for his fans, just how much will he love someone he truly cares for? I quote Legolas of Archuleta Avenue Malaysia:
“When David falls in love – just imagine his interaction, love, appreciation, selflessness towards his fans of which 99% are strangers, multiply that a hundredfold and you’ll get a rough picture of how he will treat someone he really really cares about, someone he’ll spend his life and the rest of eternity with (Mormon belief).”
I appreciate David Archuleta not just as an artist but also as a person. He is different from all the other artists because of his purity. I like other singers for their music and it usually stops there. David Archuleta is different. I respect David Archuleta for his values, his beliefs, his maturity… and the list could go on forever. How often do you find a 17-year-old American in the entertainment industry who says repeatedly that he just wants to concentrate on music right now and he’s still too young for a girlfriend? It’s absolutely unbelievable how he upholds his values and doesn’t allow them to distort in the stressful entertainment industry that is under close scrutiny. Not to mention the American culture in which dating at a very young age is extremely common.
David Archuleta is also another example of how incredibly important a person’s family background is. The closeness he has with his family reflects exactly where his most important values of life came from. I greatly respect any guy (or person for that matter) who places his family as one of the highest priorities in his life. Without a doubt, family is indeed the most important. This is a value that has faded in the lives of many people these days.
The maturity of this 17-year-old artist never fails to amaze me. He is a kid who enjoys goofing around yet at the same time thinks and acts rationally with a mind of maturity of a 25-year-old. I dare say he is the best role model for young and old alike. He is someone who reminds me “Hey, there are still teenage guys out there who deserves your respect.” He tells me that there is still hope in looking for a guy whom treats every single person (girls especially) with so much respect.
Sometimes I find it hard to believe that the David Archuleta we see in interviews and on TV is really who he is. Several fans, friends and family members of his have said that “Yes. What you see is what you get. David Archuleta is genuine.”. Can this be true? This is the very reason I want to meet him in person so badly.
I want to have my breath taken away.
