All posts for the month March, 2012

I think it’s safe to say that Nandito Ako has certainly stirred up a whirlwind of events, what with the multiple trendings on Twitter and viewing parties on YouTube, all thanks to the devoted fans of both the show and the starring actors and actresses.

So, with the airing of Nandito Ako’s recent concluded episode, the highly anticipated viewers’ overall opinion of the show was sought. Would you say it struck you at heart or does it pass as just another soap opera that centres around the all-too-discussed topic of love? Here is what I’ve been able to gather from fans: While some are head over heels in love with the show and simply cannot get enough of it, others are rather disappointed by the plot and how it was so easily predicted.

Unfortunately, I have to say I fall into the latter. Sure, there were some twists and turns and mild suspense throughout the season but nothing really stood out or stuck with me as it was just too closely portrayed to the norm. Yes, the writer did a good job with the script, that I cannot deny. However, it was the overall plot line that ultimately lead me to boredom while I sat in front of the computer screen, always able to predict what comes next. Was it the same for you? Or were you among those who were gasping, sighing and sure of the deep impact this very show has had on you?

For most of us, what drew us to the show in the first place would definitely have to be David’s involvement in the project.  While I might say, it was a bold move for David to step into the acting industry, it might not have been the smartest one. Though it was refreshing to see him assume a character that is not of his own (from when he acted as himself in Hannah Montana and iCarly back in 2009).

However, I fear the character of Josh Bradley might have been a little too contrasting from David’s original self. As we all know, David tends to steer clear of relationships. So when one of the many intimate moments between Josh and Anya was being played out, I’m afraid I wasn’t convinced of the fact that Josh really did feel something so unexplainable for Anya. They always say the eyes are the windows to a person’s soul and in this case, it was David’s eyes that gave it away. I felt a slight sense of uneasiness from David on his compromised role as it goes against what he believes in. Though it is only acting, I fear that he has not yet reached the level of professionalism to have the ability to conceal his inner emotions which is the most fundamental skill an actor must first master. And with the uncertainty of his music career once he returns from his mission, I think it is safe to say that the route of acting should be left untouched until David can really take the time out to improve his acting ability.

What are your thoughts? Should David straddle along the thin line between music and acting or do you feel he should just focus on one thing at a time? If so, which one?
