Post-Concert Gathering!

Hey fellow Archiekins!

We will be having a Post-Concert Gathering on the 6th August, 5pm at Mid Valley Megamall! Even though the concert is over, David has returned to the States, and the hype of the Asian Tour and concert has slowed down, but there is always a reason to celebrate the Archuleta. So do come and join us – whether to spaz and gush about every single amazing thing we heard,seen and experienced throughout David’s time in Asia or even if you need a shoulder to lean/cry on thanks to archuwithdrawals and post-concert blues, there will be many shoulders for you haha! Most of all, its just good to be able to get together as an archufamily one last time (Well, till the next gathering lah but who knows when that will be!) to ‘end’ the very first of David’s Asian Tour together

So let us know in the comments below or email us(if you’re shy) to let us know that you’re coming, so we can have an estimate of how many people and which place to book.

Thank You Videos – David

Have you been blessed by David? Gotten to know 1 or 2 (or perhaps MANY more) new friends because of David? Experience some very interesting “Firsts” in your life thanks to David? Inspired by David to be better? We want YOU to send your videos OR pictures to us! Yes guys, we will be compiling a Thank You video for David. You can record a video of yourself thanking him for anything or everything or just a picture with your message on it. We want to give him a VERY BIG thank you for coming here, and giving so many of us the memories of a lifetime with that mind-blowing concert on Tuesday.

We cannot completely guarantee that he will get to see the video, but we will try our very best to make sure it reaches him. Never try, never know yes? More importantly, its just another small way to show our love and support for him. So do send in your videos/pictures by Sunday, August 7th 3pm. Details below:

• In .wmv or .avi format or any other format compatible in Windows Movie Maker.
• Maximum length: 30 seconds (As we have to fit in as many as possible)
• Can be individual/group
• The rest is up to you – get creative with how you want to express your love and appreciation

• Ensure picture is clear, make sure your message can be seen/read clearly

We also want to thank Sony Music Malaysia and show our appreciation for bringing David back here..and organizing other things for the fans such as the soundcheck, M&Gs, autograph session, and for just giving in to the fans who begged time and again for them to bring  David back..Not to mention how they showed him some Malaysian love with the presentation of the Wau & the 6X Platinum award! They’ve been working hard too, so let’s just show them that David’s fans are equally grateful and appreciative people, reflecting how David himself is an example to us

AAM T-Shirts – Part 2!

Ever since David’s showcase back in 2009, we have been asked about our AAM t-shirts many times..Unfortunately during that period, we only ordered based on the number of orders we received hence there were no extra stocks at hand. However, due to high demands for the shirts, we have now agreed to re-print the t-shirts for all our newer members who did not manage to get them previously! *Good things come to those who wait!*

It will be the exact same design, and we will be giving more details soon (price/size/etc). For now, we need a feedback on the number of people who are interested to purchase the shirts so that we can give the printer a rough number and hence, a rough estimate of the price per shirt. So let us  know in the comments below if you’re interested! You can purchase as many shirts as you like

My David Archuleta experience – By Emily Chen

17) Meet David Archuleta.

Wooott! Haha. So well, now is the time that I’d tell you about it. David Archuleta has always been one of my inspirations since 2009. He thought me that being famous and not dropping your standards IS POSSIBLE. David Archuleta, as a person, is amazing. I’m not even talking about his mind blowing voice yet. As a person, I look up to David Archuleta. If you’ve ever gotten to read his book, Chords of Strength, you’d find that there is so much to that young guy and that he is just like everyone else. He definitely has maturity and some wise words at such a young age.

 Since 2009, I’ve prayed that I would get to meet David Archuleta – ofcourse, never really believing that it would come to pass. Well, it finally did!

 I really tried to shorten everything as much as I can so bare with me!

At about 10.40 am, 26th July, after math class, my eyes were swelling up in tears. I failed my math – badly. Right after class ended, I dashed out. As I was going to the toilet to cry my eyeballs out, I got a text message that said I got VVIP tickets. That tears of disappointment turned into tears of JOY! I hurriedly called Sarah and told her everything!

 We finally reached Stadium Negara and found out we got TWO soundcheck passes. Sarah and I were overjoyed! During the soundcheck, me and sarah were to first to go in and we got the front row! When David Archuleta finally came out AHHHHHHHHH. You should have saw my face! I could see him so clearly. When he asked if we had any song request, I shouted “DAVID, SING TOUCH MY HAND!” and HE DID. So there, David is singing TMH and me – dying inside and singing along. Is that even possible? hahah yes. There was a few times when he answered me during the sound check… teehee! I’m so glad I have a loud voice. HAHA. oh oh oh, HE POINTED AT ME!!! THE PART THAT WENT “IN THE SEA OF PEOPLE, THERE WAS ONLY YOU”

Sarah and I were glaring enviously at all the screaming girls that just came out for meet and greets. They’re so lucky! Later did I know that we got to be the lucky ones too! So yes, Sarah and I got meet and greets! It was TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. We were screaming, “omg omg omg” and we also did say a little prayer of thanksgiving to God for this amazing opportunity together with another girl, Yvette. hahaha.

So I walked in, and I fainted – with my eyes open. Yes, that is possible. The correct term is star struck. David was just three feet away for me… THREE FEET. This felt like a dream. A dream come true! Without hesitation, I asked David for a hug. The guard shouted “NO!!! NO HUGS” but David stammered “uh.. ooo kaay.” SO there, I hugged him and the guards arm was in between both of us. But, It didn’t matter. I closed my eyes and let out a smile! There I was, with my arms around him and his around me and my head on his chest. ahhhh. His arms were like hesitant at first then, slowly tightening!!! OMG. hahah. I suppose it was cuz of the guard’s arm in between both of us. I didn’t feel it of course. I WAS TOO HAPPY.

So when it was time for the pictures to be taken, David put his arm on my back and without hesitation, I put mine around his waist and also rested my cheek on his shoulders!!! AHHH He felt so hard and so firm!!

I do remember someone tell David that there was something on his hair and David giggled. I think Yvette said that. Thank you to whoever said that – I TOUCHED David Archuleta’s hair to sort of try to get it of. I mean, ran my fingers through his hair. But my shivery fingers were running through the wrong side of his hair. hahaha. I’M SORRY! I WAS REALLY TOO OVERJOYED.

When the picture taking was over, I manage to tell say to David, “David! You’re my inspiration!”. Suddenly he looked right at me – pierced me with his mesmerizing green eyes and he let out the cutest smile ever, “Why, thank you!”

I would say that I was very well composed because I definitely didn’t want to intimidate David. Honestly, I was a balloon waiting to burst. Literally. When I walk out, I started jumping around and crying! MY DREAM CAME THROUGH. IT REALLY DID. IT REALLY REALLY DID. After such a long time of wishing that I would get to meet David, I FINALLY DID. I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER GET THE CHANCE. When you have been “fantasizing” for so long and that person you’ve always wanted to meet is infront of you – you’d blank out – just like me. hahahaha.

Alright, concert time! I was sitting in the third row, VVIP and it was amazing. From the minute David entered the stage, I was mind blowed. The atmosphere was great and the energy level was there! IT WAS SO AMAZING BEYOND MY WORDS CAN EVEN EXPRESS.

Thank you much Sony – for bringing David to Malaysia, Archuleta Avenue – all of you guys were so friendly and Aunty Jo – for without you, Sarah and I would not have the opportunity to meet David.

This day is by far the best day of MY LIFE.

Because I knew you

After I was through laughing at Trace’s wonderful, rib-tickling recap, I started to reminisce about the days leading up to and after the concert. I relived many of the special moments that happened and I realized that as much as I miss having David in our midst and at long last watching him live in concert, I miss even more the friendships and bonds that have evolved as a result of being his fan. It was so much fun getting together with all of you, laughing and renewing ties. It’s a fan base with benefits other than the obvious that, perhaps, many of us don’t pay too much mind to.

All of us come from diverse backgrounds, ages, localities and outlooks but the one glue that has brought us together – David Archuleta – has also forged very meaningful connections between us fans. Granted some are stronger while others are more sporadic and infrequent but in the end when we do get together the camaraderie is every bit as warm and thrilling as any old friends can be. We shed any baggage that we may have – be it cultural, political and religious – and just  enjoy each others company.

I’m not the most demonstrative of persons when it comes to feelings and emotions but  I truly treasure the gift that I have been given here – friends. Outside of our own family, friends are the closest human connections that we are privileged to experience. On many levels these ties that bind are even closer and more profound then the ones we have with our loved ones. We are often shaped and moulded into different beings by our closest friends and we go to extraordinary lengths to help them in times of need.

The song in the video is called ‘For Good’ and it comes from the musical ‘Wicked’. The musical tells the story of the relationship between Elphaba the wicked witch and Glinda the good witch from The Wizard Of Oz.

I love this song as it speaks of friendship, redemption and forgiveness. Very often we trespass against those that we care for and don’t realize the hurt and pain that we have wrought. Forgiveness and remorse come too late and unfortunately a relationship comes to a painful end.

And so we must keep the fires burning between us and not let it simmer to a mere ember and eventually turning cold. The physical distance between us is not so vast that  it cannot be bridged by an email, comment, text message , get togethers, etc.

Even if the ribbon gets frayed let’s not cut it shall we?

P/S: To our honorary Archiekin – Katheryn – who hails from across the wide Pacific, I hope we can meet someday in real space instead of the cyberkind. Perhaps in one of David’s concerts in the US?

I do believe when people said if you want something so badly, your body, mind and soul believe in it so strongly one day you will get it! That’s how I feel when it comes to David…It happened 2 years ago and it happened again this time! I never thought I would be this lucky again but fate or luck seemed to be on my side again.

After meeting David at the airport, I left and went to get some work done while the rest of the fans went straight to Hilton. Shu Yee had the pass to enter the press conference and she told us to tag along just in case if Sony was kind enough to allow all the fans in. By the time I was done with my work and arrived Hilton it was around 5.30pm. I called Shu Yee and Trace but both didn’t pick up the call so I assumed they must be in the press conference at that time. I went to the concierge and asked for David Archuleta’s press conference the customer service executive told me it was on 7th Floor. So I went up to 7th floor and it was really quiet as I walked in. There were only 3 girls standing outside the conference room, there were 3 rooms there and no one was in there. I was thinking to myself maybe David will be interviewed in one of the rooms. I tried calling Shu Yee again but she didn’t pick up. I didn’t know where to go so I decided to take a seat on the couch at the guest area outside the conference room. I sat very close to the entrance near the lift and was trying to decide if I should stay or go.

One minute later I heard there were people walking in and as I turned my head up, Jeff walked in and David was just right behind him and even though I was shocked I’m glad that I still managed to do the right thing!

I looked at David and said “Hi David” and David looked at me and smiled, “Heyyy how’s it going?”

That smile just melt my heart. I don’t remember if I replied him but I think I did. He walked in to the conference room and I thought to myself this can’t be happening! I just met David again!! So I decided to stay and figured out what I should do next. Since there was no one asking me to leave so I decided to stay and try my luck, who knows what’s going to happen this time. I spoke to a few people, trying to make myself comfortable and not acting as an outsider as everyone thought I was from one of the media. Later JJ and Ean walked in and  JJ sat next to me so I thought I should say hi and introduced myself. He was very friendly and we started talking and Ean came to shake my hand and introduced his girlfriend, Melissa to me.

All of us started talking and JJ asked “so which media are you from?”

Then I smiled and replied “I’m not from the media, I’m just one of the fans trying my luck to see if I can meet David or have a photo with him later. Oh by the way, I just replied your tweet” (he tweeted if the fans have any questions for David).

He said “Oh wow you must be a big fan!”

So I told him all my encounters with David when he was here 2 years ago. They were kind of shocked listening to my stories and in their mind I’m sure they must be thinking “what a stalker she is”. Ean’s girlfriend, Melissa started talking to me and told me how she was dragged here by Ean and she is not really a fan of David.

I said “You get to go in and meet him and you don’t want to? I’m DYING to see him haha”.

She said maybe you should take my spot then she turned to Ean and said “Baby why don’t you let her in since she is a big fan, she can take my spot?”.

Ean replied “No crazy of course I can’t do that! You are coming in with me”.

She felt really bad for me. It was really nice of her to offer and besides we didn’t really know each other but I guess she felt how badly I wanted to meet David. Anyway, we continued talking about other stuff and JJ interrupted and asked “What’s the name of David’s album?”

I replied “TOSOD”. Then he asked “How many songs are there in his album?”

So I said “Twelve…these are really easy questions…I can tell you more like his favorite color and what he likes to do…he loves Thai food…” JJ looked at me and was speechless for awhile and asked “Thai food??”

Then I said “yes he loves Thai food and his favorite is Pad Thai” (JJ did mentioned Thai food to David during the interview which kind of impressed David but obviously David didn’t know I told JJ that haha).

So I told JJ, “Now that I have answered allll your questions do I get to go in?”. JJ laughed and said “No I’m just trying to test if you are a fan” haha…Later Adrian walked over and talked to JJ so I said hi to Adrian and thank him and Sony for bringing David to Malaysia.

He looked at me and said “Hey you look familiar”, then I told him “I met you 2 years ago when you were with David at the airport and I met you and David again the next day outside the washroom in Sunway Pyramid, remember?”

He replied “Ohhhh yeah! Wow you are a crazy fan!”. He looked at me and must be thinking what is she doing here. So I told him “Do you think I can get a picture with David when he’s out later?”.

He was nice enough to tell me “Well you can try”. That gave me a bit of hope, at least he didn’t say no. JJ and Ean were told it was their turn for the interview so as they were walking to the room Ean asked Melissa to get in with him and Melissa and I were talking at that time, she told him she would rather stay outside with me.

I was like “What?? Are you serious?”. She said “it’s ok, I’m not a big fan anyway”.

Ean didn’t know what to say so he walked in to the room and a minute later, he walked out again and said “Baby you have to come in with me!” then Melissa looked at me and I looked at Ean with a sad face, he said “Ok since you are here you just come along!”.

I thought I just strike a million ringgit lottery at that time!!! I couldn’t believe what I heard but I reacted, stood up and walked with Melissa towards the room. I kept thanking Melissa and before I knew it, I was in the room and David was right in front of me!!! He was smiling to someone, I don’t remember who but I remember he turned around and looked at me in my eyes, smiled and said hi! I was speechless and I stood there for a moment thinking it was a dream! Adrian saw me and said “Have a seat”. It was so sweet of him and obviously he knew I didn’t have a pass to be there but he didn’t even ask why was I there. So I sat and stared at David for awhile…his eyes and his smile…I just couldn’t get my eyes of him…JJ and Ean started talking to him and I took my Blackberry out from my bag and started recording. There were only 4 of us watching them, a girl from Sony, Adrian, Melissa and me. It was a live interview with David, I would never imagine I had this privilege to watch David right in front of me (2 metres away) and that was THE BEST MOMENT I ever had! I love JJ and Ean! They are witty and they made David laughed so much! I managed to record 7 minutes of the video and I was thinking to myself I can’t wait to share this with all the fans in AAM!! Weeeeee!!! The interview ended and I asked Melissa to get a picture of me and David. I walked over to him calmly, trying not look like a stalker!

I reached out my hand and while shaking his hand, I said “Hi David! Do you remember me? The girl who waited for…” David replied immediately “Yes I remember!” and he smiled.

I replied “But this time not inside the arrival hall though haha. I was outside with the rest of the fans earlier”. I asked “Can I have a photo with you?” He replied “Of course!”

 As Melissa was taking our picture, David whispered to me “Actually I was not allowed to talk to you guys at the airport”. It was funny how he was smiling looking at the camera while talking to me at the same time haha. I think he was more interested in talking than taking picture. So after Melissa snapped our picture I was contented and I continued “Yeah it was very sweet of you to come over to the fans, they were all really happy!”

 He replied “I heard a lot of them were in school today and they couldn’t make it” and I replied “Yeah a lot of them wanted to come to the airport but they had to be in school or work”.

He said “yeah I know but it was nice of some of you who came”.

 Then Ean came over and introduced Melissa to David “David meet my girlfriend, Melissa. Because of you I got to know her at your showcase 2 years ago so I should thank you man!” David looked a bit surprised and replied “Oh really?”.

I was standing next to David and I felt like we were more like friends at that time, I was not as nervous as before and I told him “Yeah because of you they are dating now”.

He was happily shocked and said “Wow that’s awesome!” Then they had a photo together and Ean said bye to him as the next group of interviewer were already waiting for their turn. So I shook David’s hand again and said “It’s great seeing you again David and I’ll see you at Fahrenheit later! I’ll be there”.

 He smiled and replied “Aww thanks for coming! See ya”. As I walked out I saw Jeff and we talked for a bit. I told him “Jeff, you have an amazing son!”

 He said “Oh thanks! He’s a keeper isn’t he?”.     Good one Jeff!

She designed this banner for David’s showcase in 2009. It is our calling card, flag and has seen much ‘action’ as it has been to KLIA at least twice. Brought to Sri KDU to welcome David when he visited the school. Proudly displayed at Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre during the showcase. Hung at Berjaya Times Square for the Asian Tour ticket launch. And then at Fahrenheit 88 where Jeff Archuleta spotted it and was pretty impressed that we had spent the effort to have the banner made. So impressed was he that he got David to sign it!
