Solo show!! whoot!!

David’s gonna be going solo tonight (US time) at the Intersection in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It’s a small venue sitting 300 people or so much like his Louisville show. But I hope they allow recording though, so keep everything crossed!

The venue looks very boxed in and sweaty!! lol. But at David’s show it’s gonna be a seating arrangement so that’s a lot better.

“I don’t think I can hear anymore,” my 8-year-old son, Ezra, said as we ambled out of The Intersection on Monday night. “All you need for broken ear drums is teenage girls and David Archuleta.”

“How are we doing tonight in Grand Rapids” WAHHHHHH!
“It’s nice to be here with you in a smaller, comfortable setting.” EEEEEEK!
“I dressed lighter than I usually do, and I’m still burning up.” I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!

Still, for all the hysteria and hoopla, 18-year-old Archuleta reminded me why he made it so far on “Idol” only a year and a few months ago. His voice is fantastic, a lustrous tenor with an unaffected shot of the blues, and he has a way of performing that draws people in, belying his tender age.

In fact, Archuleta’s set — a healthy 15 tunes with a tight four-piece band — exceeded my expectations. It was even better than Daughtry’s early solo shows, at least the one that I saw in Muskegon about a year after he was on “Idol.” I’ll get flack for this, but last night’s show was beefier, tighter, and more professional than that dismal night a few years back. I know Daughtry’s improved greatly, but for teenage Archuleta to unwaveringly perform a solid block of 13 original songs, at his age and experience level, is impressive.

(And by the way, I love Daughtry!)

I really like his response to the last question- quintessential David and oh so very wise too. Always viewing the glass as half full instead of half empty as most people would tend to do. Naive and inexperienced some might say, but it’s a lot more positive and forward looking compared to the constant whingers and whiners. Well said David
