I won’t refuse to participate ever.
Whatever he does .. I’m there.
If he’s going to give 100% .. so am I.
I can’t speak for fan sites .. but I can speak for myself.
I won’t forsake ANYTHING he does .. because no matter what .. I will support him.. no matter WHAT.
I for one .. think the Apologize at DelMar .. was telling of what he’d just been through.
I think he’s ONE class act .. being out there .. doing what he does .. loving what he does .. with all the crap going on in his life.. at the worst TIME in his life.
And because I’m not over the moon about the Demi pairing .. I should turn my back on him?
Never.. I’ll walk through fire if I had to .. bare foot across glass…
because I BELIEVE IN HIM..and my faith in him does not come with conditions.
The above is a comment posted by a fan during a lively debate on the pros and cons of the Demi – David pairing on their on going summer tour (what else is new in Archieland). Some say that David should have taken a breather and concentrate on his writing and preparations for his next pop album. Their opinion is that David has been run ragged lately and the schedule is too punishing. Moreover Demi fans – being of the Disney persuasion – are hardly the demographics that David should be pursuing. The whole tour doesn’t achieve anything positive for David but serves only to demean him by billing him as the ‘opening’ for a second tier Disney ’star’. This reminds me of the earthquake that happened when it was announced that David was to collaborate with Miley Cyrus! David is too good for the Disney tweens and kiddies for heavens sake! – went the chorus.
Other fans say that, yes although they too don’t think this is an ideal pairing, but at least David and his music are out there for the public’s consumption during the peak concert season in the US. This period is when fans traditionally go out in droves to see their favourite artists and it’s good that David is touring and therefore gaining new fans. Based on reactions from Demi fans who may never have heard of David until now, this seems to be the case. By going on tour he’s also honing his performing skills and not to forget since Disney is footing a large part of the bill this means David is making more money. With no new single released by Jive and not much David music on the airwaves how else is David going to promote his music? And the debate continues…..
I may not have much experience being a fan of any artiste until now but it’s really an eye opener for me the way David’s fan base agonize, dissect and debate over every career decision that he and his team makes. Many of us presume to be the authority over what’s good or bad for David. To me that smacks of arrogance and conceit, no matter what educational or professional qualifications we may have gained. The definition of success is very personal. Each and every one of us has or ought to have a clear picture of what success means to us. One’s man meat is after all another’s poison. David’s idea of success is , I suspect, totally out of joint with what we, his fan base, wants for him. I can see that he’s happiest when he’s on the stage singing his heart out, whether it’s for an audience of a 100 or 10,000. I don’t think he’s all that concerned with platinum records, number one singles, grammies or other industry awards even though these go a long way towards adding that credibility shine to this career.

In the final analysis David will sing for what ever rewards or recognition he feels is necessary and fulfilling to him, not what we think or insist he should be aiming for. For all we know he may decide to hang up his mic, so to speak, and just go back to school and get that ENT degree he talked about in the past. If that happens then what? Are we all going to convulse in agony over lost opportunities and what could be a glittering career? Are we acting too much like parents who cry over the career decisions of their children and how far they want to take it? Are we imposing standards and expectations on David the way we tend to do with our kids? Presuming that he doesn’t necessarily know what’s good for him and that he’s just a child?
To me it’s all pointless pontification on our part when we insist on voicing our ‘opinions’ as to how David should conduct his career. It’s tiresome and frankly doesn’t serve any purpose for we just don’t know what desires and motivations really drives David. We pretend that we do but we don’t. I’ve always said that we’re on a journey and that David is the engine. He’ll take us as far as HE wants to; no more no less. And if any of us are not happy with that then maybe they should get off now lest they be sorely disappointed with David’s final AND personal destination.
You say that I don’t know what I want
But it worked out just fine
You said it never could be done
But it worked out just fine, oh
You can say anything you want
But it worked out just fine
If it works for me
Than it works for me
If it works for me
Than it works for me
What works for him is what works for him. Nobody else.

Good morning ! I agree with you John. Let David be David. We don’t know what’s best for him nor anyone else. So often, we don’t even know what’s best for ourselves!!!Some people just need to stop being bossy and keep their opinions to themselves.
