Eunice’s Dallas Recap!
Eunice went to the Dallas show and shared her recap with us!woot thanks Eunice glad u had a great time!
I had been planning to meet David again in Dallas, but as usual I waited for too long, and all the VIP ticketss were sold out. I thought I wouldn’t go this time.
Last Thursday, I decided to call the ticket Master, thought I just tried to find out if there were any tickets left for David’s concert. To my surprise, there were. The guy told me there was a great seat for a great deal, it was like 8 rows from the stage. I bought it right away.
I was really concerned about the hot weather. To my surprised the weather was cool and beautiful on sunday morning, and that gave me more reasons to attend the concert. Since Nokia theatre is just over 12 minutes from my house, I took my sweet time, got the envelope ready to hand over to Ray or David.
I went to the will call center and got my ticket. There I saw Linha, May, Serena from FOD, Princess, then 2 more ladies. Sorry I forgot their names.
I checked in alone and the ushers led me to the front left, there weren’t many people around. People started coming in and I was relieved, when I discovered I was sitting with a bunch of middle aged parents, seniors with some grandkids.I knew I was with the right group. I chatted with a couple of parents, one of the dads said, “not sure what I am coming for..” the other dad added,” I brought my earplugs along this time. The last time I attended one, my ears bled after the concert.” I chuckled and told them I had my earplugs on too.
There were so many preteens and teenagers. Many of them were Demi’s fans. I didn’t know she is a Texan, until David mentioned it.
Well, the girl band KSY, opened for David. The teenagers surrounded the stage. 30 minutes later, the lights were dimmed, people moved some props around, they had the curtain down, the lights off, and cheering and screaming, “David, David….” Then a shadow appeared behind the curtain! Yes, Was David!!!! He started with TMH, That face lit up the whole stage!!!!I tried to take picutres but the lights shone at my direction, I just couldn’t get hold of David, he was all over the stage. And I was so embarrassed to stand up when I had a group of grandparents sitting behind and besides me. I was reallly conscious and be considerate. He sang the second song Waiting for yesterday, My hands, you can, works for me, Altnoy, Don’t let go, but when he sang Barriers, it was so so good, at that point I stopped taking pictures, I was tired of battling with the lights and those teenagers who were blocking my view. Then he sat at the keyboard and sang Apologize. It was breathtaking and haunting.I really felt David’s voice piercing to the heart. Then he switched gear and sang Zero Gravity, he was energetic. He sang Como f…accapella, and closed with his signature song Crush.
It was so fast. I came out and met with the FOD bunch. We chatted a bit and then I handed the envelope to Linha and asked her to hand it over to Ray, David or Mike Compass. I didn’t stay for Demi’s session and I left.
I sensed something different about David this time, not sure what was that, but he wasn’t that usual. gigly, bubbly.Like he just did a routine except for the two songs barriers and Apologize. Hmmmm! maybe, I expect too much from him since he is not the Star of this concert. Demi is. I saw that they are promoting and selling many Demi’s stuff at the store. But only a couple for David! Hope you know what I mean. Well, as compare with his last solo tour at Utah in March, he was definitely low profile and quieter. But his voice hasn’t regressed a bit, however, his voice is even richer and stronger, plus his stage presentation has improved tremendously.
Afterall, it was a great treat for myself and it was worth it.

Great recap Eunice
Glad you got to enjoy David’s concert again.
This being a Demi Lovato concert, it’s not unreasonable to expect the spotlight trained on her. But judging by fans reactions and official reviews, David should have been billed as the co-liner as he has been terrific so far.

John, having read your latest write up on Works for me thread, I just remember I didn’t mention about the 2 dads I interacted with, at the Dallas concert. They (dads) were in their seats the entire time, both did not clap for the girls band, the one who sat next to me was distracted with all the teenagers crowding around the stage. The one sat infront of me was chatting with his wife most of the time. But I observed, they were focused when David did his set of performance. One of them took David’s pictures several times. They even applauded when David finished and left the stage. The grandparents behind me were in their seats the entire time too. I heard they also applauded after David finished. See he does have many fans despite the negative/sarcastic reports.

Eunice
There’s no doubt that David has many fans among the older generation. This group has fallen in love with not only his ability to wring every last ounce of emotion from you through song but also his character which they see as exemplary and sadly missing in many of today’s young stars and older ones as well.
It is this same group’s ( from some fan sites ) perception that Jive and David’s management team is marketing him the wrong way i.e to the teenybopper market. They have taken it upon themselves to send a silent protest to Jive and gang by not attending David’s summer tour in the hope that they will drum some ’sense’ into Jive. It is their averred intention to ‘force’ Jive to see the light and thus cause them to promote David in a more dignified and mature fashion. They feel insulted that they as a group have been ignored by Jive in their pursuit of the Disney demographics. Many of them have openly stated that they’re glad the current tour with Demi is not the sell out that Disney and Jive probably expected.
I think they’re just shooting themselves and David in the foot if they carry on with this misguided attitude. Jive may just stop promoting David since the tour is deemed a flop. Why spend time, effort and money on an artist that nobody wants to see. Not even his so called die hard i.e older generation of fans?
So the group of dads and grandparents that did go to see David in Dallas is to be commended as they went to see a singer they like regardless of who the headliner was. They were there to support David and his music and that’s the way it should be.
Our love for David and his music shouldn’t be attached with conditions and expectations. Just enjoy his music while it’s still out there. I’m sure that’s all David expects of us while he sings his heart out night after night.

That is so sad, that they don’t know how their choices have affected David. Hope his Christmas album will blast the charts.
