A Message from KT from Snarky Archies:
I think the oft used quote, “water seeks its own level” very much applies to David and his community of fans. As a collective group, the fans are some of the most caring, dedicated and giving people. Clearly, this impression is not lost on David as he has, on more than one occasion, commented about how caring, giving and respectful his fans are and how much they mean to him.
Generosity of Spirit
Witness the generosity of spirit between fans; rushing to get YouTube videos up to share the concert experience, the gifting of tickets, travel and David’s CDs and the beautiful recaps that almost make you feel you were present at the concert. Witness the generosity of spirit towards David lavished with gifts including tee shirts, jewelry, scarves, favorite foods and hand made quilts to name just a few. And…witness the generosity of David and the community of fans towards charitable giving…in service of others. David is quickly developing a reputation as a philanthropist. If he lends his name to a cause it will surely raise money lifted up by the generosity of fans. In fact I believe that when David’s life long memoirs are written; his philanthropy will be on par with his music…and I think he has a once in a generation voice.
“Really Cool”
David’s humility and lack of interest in material possessions is by now well documented. We rarely observe him asking for anything but if we listen closely we are able to discern that which is most important to him. Question: “What’s the best present you’ve gotten from a fan?” Answer: “A donation to charity in my name…that’s really cool.” As I pondered this quote and as we enter David’s summer concert season, it occurred to me that we have an opportunity…an opportunity to make the connection complete. David is aware that donations are made in his honor but rarely does he get a chance to knowingly “meet” the people behind the donation. I thought it would be a “really cool” time to change that and let David see that from a charitable perspective, we also have his back.
The Power of 2
The concept for The Power of 2 is very simple: David together with the community of fans can have a dramatic impact in service to others. So let’s give him the “coolest gift” from fans and deliver to David confirmation of your charitable donation.
A document http://www.sendspace.com/file/jmb4kn has been created for you to give David indicating that you have made a gift in his honor. It is very simple; you write your name, the charity (ies) that you have donated to and a personal message. This document is a means to an end. The important concepts are that you gave to a charity in honor of David and that you share that message directly with him.
The size of the donation does not matter. Heck, if every fan just gave $1 then we could raise a lot of money. If you haven’t donated yet, there is still plenty of time. There is a list of the active campaigns on behalf of David are at FOD http://fansofdavid.com/?page_id=24078 ; scroll halfway down the page to see the list.
How do you get it to David? Anyway you can. Give it to him at a meet and greet. Place it inside a card and give it to him after the concert. If you are in the front of a mosh pit and he reaches out to touch your hand, give it to him…along with your hand of course!
If you are not going to a concert or you are an international fan and want to participate then print and complete the document, scan and e-mail it to me at DavidsCharities2@yahoo.com. I am going to a concert on August 21st in Hershey. I have a VIP pass and will bind and give David any that I receive. If you can’t scan then please e-mail the same address and I will provide other options.
My Hope
My hope is very simple….
I hope that the community of fans will accept this humble offering as a symbol of the charitable gifts we make on behalf of David AND that David receives thousands of these “gifts” this summer and beyond. Show David that you have his back in supporting important charities.
Although David has admitted to not being very competitive; there is probably one place where David would be very happy in finishing first and that is in the service of others where winning and finishing first are not mutually exclusive.
A special thanks to Brandon, Bianca and Linda…you are all awesome!

Gift David’s Music for Charity Campaign
Onedavid is having a “Gift David’s Music for Charity” campaign:
We are starting our 1st charity-related campaign! It helps to sell David’s CD and spread his music, while benefitting Invisible Children at the same time:
Fans are encouraged to gift a CD to someone they know, or purchase for themselves. The CD comes with either the exclusive lyrics booklet or 4-pc set postcards, and retails for RM38.00 – to be purchased through OneDavid. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Invisible Children by us on their behalf. Each CD purchased also entitles the buyer/giftor to one chance in a lucky draw for an autographed Japanese version of the David Archuleta album.Campaign ends 1 September 2009.

We look forward to having Malaysian fans share their creative self-initiated campaign stories!
