Livewire Concert Review

If you watch American Idol religiously like I do, then you definitely know who David Archuleta is. If you don’t watch the show, then you will become familiar with him soon. The second runner up, of last years Idol contestants, should have a long singing career ahead of him. The 18 year old singer from Miami played for a sold out crowd at the House of Blues on Sunday. The crowd was full of very friendly moms with a slew of very excited children in tow.

ANOTHER sold-out show!

POCATELLO – The line at the Stephens Performing Arts Center was practically not existent, but a virtual one packed the online site for Idaho State University’s box office as David Archuleta concert tickets went on sale Friday morning.

There were 1,204 tickets up for grabs. They were all sold in 15 minutes.

The second concert for American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta was announced Tuesday.

Starting at 10 a.m., fans began purchasing their tickets for the March 23 concert. Tickets sold for $35.

On March 20, Archuleta will be performing in Idaho Falls. That show has been sold out in about the same amount of time.

David checks in from the road!

Hey everyone. It’s David checking in from the road. We’re in Texas for our 2 smallest shows capacity-wise haha. I was able to watch American Idol since we have tivo on the bus! I am really impressed with the people they have this season. Some of the performances that stood out to me were Adam Lambert’s and Danny Gokey’s performances. I also really liked Matt Giraud’s performance. There were honestly a lot of good ones haha. Allison Iraheta blew me away with her voice. I can’t believe she’s only 16! I’m really looking forward to what else she is going to do. Then Alexis Grace’s performance of Dirty Diana I thought was really cool too, even if Simon said it was a little too much. I liked how you could tell she was really getting into it. Ok I know that I could keep going on with everyone’s performances because I really liked a lot of them as you could tell haha. But I don’t want to ramble on either, since there are a lot of people to talk about. Black or White and Human Nature are 2 of my favorite Michael Jackson songs, so I was really happy to hear those. I guess I’ll focus on those 2 then, even though it’s not like I’ve picked any favorites, you know? I’m probably not making much sense. But anyway, I agreed with Simon on what he said about Adam’s song. Even though people think he can be a little over the top, he needed that to pull off Black or White. I think he did awesome, and definitely grabbed everyone’s attention. That’s what you need to do, and that’s what he did lol. For Matt’s performance it was the first time I had ever seen him perform, and I thought it was awesome how he played piano with that soulful vibe he has to him. It wasn’t as big and powerful as some of the other performances, but I think it showed who Matt was and what he was all about really well. He did a good job making the song his own, and I just love that song lol. Well I’d like to go on about each person, but I just don’t want to go on not making much sense. So I’ll try and write about some of the performances that stood out to me next week. I’m excited to see everyone perform next week! Oh, before I finish I just wanted to say it was cool to see Kanye and Kelly perform during the results show. I love Kanye’s creative mind and how he experiments with things. He and Michael Jackson are like geniuses with music in my opinion. With Kelly, she is just an amazing singer and I love her single lol. Fun stuff…. Well I’m going to head out now, but I’ll talk to you guys later.

Song for the day: Along with Black or White and Human Nature, I’m going to add Man in the Mirror. There are so many great Michael Jackson songs really, but Man in the Mirror is one that just hits you hard and really gets you thinking. It’s one my little brother used to sing when he was little haha.

This is David’s 14th show on his current tour of the US and it’s held at a place also called the Scout Bar.

This time though there are no bold red letters announcing a sold out concert but sources say that it is a sold out show. Check out it’s website for more information on upcoming acts. It is again a venue more for rock and alternative music fans. An interesting roster of bands are tribute bands that play Led Zeppelin and KISS music.

Recap from Lorena who was at the San Antonio concert: OMG it was perfect ! I’ve never tought he was going to do it .. especially because he got all confused and kind of nervous .. so he started like searching in his head a song in spanish so he was like “Mom?” and start looking for her Awwwwwww so then he started singing Selena’s but he couldn’t remember the song he was like “Yo se que tienes… oh wait”… and the he sang it and everyone was like singing along and he laughed and said “Wow I haven’t sung in spanish for a while .. that was fun” and the he started singing another spanish song .. and he said “oh forget it … lets continue with the show ” like he realised that he was rambling on spanish songs now … Hahaha and all his band laughed.

Adoration Of The Archuleta

They say a picture paints a thousand words. Under the skilled hands of a master artist colours, shapes and forms come together in a dance of eternity and establishes emotional connections with the viewer and sends his imagination soaring searching for words  to describe the feelings that are aroused by the canvass before him. A photograph, although seemingly more static in visual impact, can be much like a picture in that it captures an image of the subject during a dynamic moment in time that tells a compelling story.

The picture above taken of David shows him in just such a moment reaching out to a phalanx of hands stretched towards him, straining to touch him in return. This picture elicits a lot of words to describe the moment: confidence, magnetism, adoration, a connection between David and his fans that is almost palpable in it’s assuredness. But there’s one more term that is just as true: star power.

For me the picture perfectly embodies a potential in David that has thus far only been simmering under the surface . But one that is now reaching boiling point and about to explode in brilliant resurgence. I say resurgence because David has always had this dynamism in his personality makeup judging from his Star Search days. The confidence, flourish and even a bit of cockiness was very evident then in his stage persona. ‘Shop Around’ was a showcase of just what David was capable of on the stage. Sadly the bluster was  sapped in a large way after that  most probably due to his problems with his vocal chords.  It is only now – while headlining his own tour – that he’s beginning to rediscover the brilliance  of his particular  constellation.

The ‘Shop Around’ this time is in the form of ‘Zero Gravity”. In this song we witness and marvel at the joy and abandonment with which he’s strutting his stuff on  stage. The star power is very definitely being turned on to a burning intensity as he reclaims and brandishes the long dormant confidence and swagger of his younger days. It’ ll be most interesting to watch the extent to which he embraces the rejuvenation of his power over an audience.
